Treat Yourself to Local Wines and Other Delicacies
Umbria, like all Italian regions, has an abundance of local dishes and wines. Nearby Montefalco is famed for its award-winning red wines, and Todi has its own indiginous grape called Grechetto, which produces a crisp dry wine served in virtually all our local restaurants. But it's really all about truffles, truffles truffles! This is pure Umbrian black gold, and you'll find truffles adorn many dishes and menus. Another local favourite is wild boar, which the locals can cook to perfection. Check for local food fairs, or sagre, which are open air fairs in towns across the region during summer months that celebrate seasonal ingredients and dishes. Views from our local pizzeria (Cavour) and Le Scalette restaurant and the more upscale Umbria are all five star!
Yum!
Here is a sampling of what is on offer locally: Wine tours, wild boar, olive groves producing fine cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and the Perugia Chocolate Fair.
