Easy Day Trips
Don't miss: Perugia, Spello, Montefalco, Deruta, Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Castiglione del Lago.
Tour the surrounding towns to enjoy great wine, food, shopping, art and nature. Many Umbrian hilltowns are equidisant from Todi, under an hour's drive from the villa. Drive from one town to the next through vineyards and olive groves.
- All of the towns have breathtaking views thanks to their elevated positions that were originally key to their defence.
- Each town has something different to offer, with a shoutout to Spoleto's Festival of Two Worlds and Perugia's Umbria Jazz. Both feature an abundance of outdoor concerts and events and are mainstays for culture mavens. The art treasures of Perugia are splendid, especially the underground ruins of the papal palace and Perugino's frescoed Cambio or Exchange and the Pinacoteca.
- Montefalco specialises in linens and wine production; Deruta in maiolica, gorgeous ceramics; Orvieto's cathedral is iconic with its alternating bands of pink travertine and basalt and frescoed interior; Spello is a personal favorite, with enormous charm packed into its tiny streets and the annual Infiorata where the streets are literally covered in flower petals. Assisi needs no introduction, being a UNESCO World Heritage site.
